Smile – It’s Contagious

World Smile Day

HAPPY WORLD SMILE DAY!

Harvey Ball, a commercial artist, from Worcester Massachusetts, introduced the ‘smiley face’ in 1963.

Concerned that this symbol had started to lose its original message in the rapid commercialisation of the symbol, Ball introduced the idea of World Smile Day (1st Friday of October) – encouraging people to devote one day in the year to smiles and kind acts to others.

For this day, Ball proposed that just as the ‘smiley face’ knows no barriers of language, race, politics etc, neither should we.
